TOWN INFORMATION

The town of Breckenridge was formally created in 1859 as part of the mining rush in Colorado, although with a different spelling.  This historic town still has many of its original buildings along Main Street and our historic downtown.  WoodWinds office on Main Street is also known as the Judge Silverthorne house and was built in 1886.  Breckenridge now is famous for its amazing mountain and ski resort along with its many shops and restaurants.

To learn more about the town of Breckenridge take a self guided walking tour.  Historical maps are provided at Town Hall and the Activity Center on Blue River Plaza.  For more information visit the Town of Breckenridge. Or for guided tours contact the Summit Historical Society and learn about the town of Breckenridge.

Free historical tours of the four peaks of Breckenridge are also available.  Strap on your skis or snowboard and follow the Breckenridge Ambassadors to get first-hand knowledge of the mountain.  The tours are available every day.  Just sign up at the base of Peaks 8 or 9.
